Hat tip, Hot Air. Sorry about the language folks, but the above is a direct quote. What kind of pastor uses the term "God damn" in a sermon anyway?
“The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing ‘God Bless America.’ No, no, no, God damn America, that’s in the Bible for killing innocent people,” he said in a 2003 sermon. “God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme.”
In addition to damning America, he told his congregation on the Sunday after Sept. 11, 2001 that the United States had brought on al Qaeda’s attacks because of its own terrorism.
“We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye,” Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001.
“We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America’s chickens are coming home to roost,” he told his congregation.
To make matters worse, Obama is quoted as saying that his church isn't "controversial". ( about 1:15 into the video). Yes, this is the same Jeremiah Wright, a member of Obama's campaign, who awarded Louis Farrakahn a lifetime achievement award. The same Farrakahn who's anti-semitism is well documented, and referred the white people as "potential humans, they haven't evolved yet" Farrakhan has referred to Jews, Palestinian Arabs, Koreans, and Vietnamese collectively as "bloodsuckers" and maintains that "Murder and lying comes easy for white people."
Obama has yet to cut ties from Wright's radical, anti-American views.
Update / round up:
Michelle Malkin- Now we know where Michelle Obama’s resentment of America comes from.
Obama is a Christian, right? Even asking if he is a Muslim is wrong, right? So isn’t this the most legitimate criticism to levy at him? It would negate the Hussein factor as well. This is your Christian church, your values- a church whose message you support with your dollars and by including this pastor on your campaign staff. What does that say about you?
ABC News has video... and wait through to the end when you hear some of Wright's worshipers defend the man. Can we call the influential pastor a radical's radical?
Yes. We. Can.
Well, they couldn’t ignore him forever, could they?
The man Barack Obama calls his spiritual adviser, who is credited for giving him the title of his book, The Audacity of Hope, and who married Obama and his wife and baptized their two daughters, is an America-hating racist who uses exactly the same type of hate speech as disgraced professor Ward Churchill
Frontpage, h/t Citizen Wells
Apart from America's purported racism, Wright also despises the nation's capitalist economic structure, viewing it as a breeding ground for all manner of injustice. "Capitalism as made manifest in the 'New World,'" says Wright, "depended upon slave labor (by African slaves), and it is only maintained by keeping the 'Two-Thirds World' under oppression." This anti-capitalist perspective is further reflected in TUCC's "10-point vision," whose ideals include the cultivation of "a congregation working towards ECONOMIC PARITY." Dispelling any doubt that this is a reference to socialism and the wholesale redistribution of wealth, the TUCC mission statement plainly declares its goal of helping "the less fortunate to become agents of change for God who is not pleased with America's economic mal-distribution!"
Faultline USA has a nice round up.
So Obama is the man who will unify all America? Don’t make bet on it! His continued support of his church and pastor makes a mockery of the word “unity.”
Powerline- The Audacity of Hate
Obama has also said that Wright is "is like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with." But who takes spiritual guidance from hate-spewing old uncles?
This dog fight between Clinton and Obama is forcing, not just them, but all those around them to show the Left's true face - and it's ugly. These two are doing America, indeed the world, a tremendous good deed by exposing the true face of the Left - racism, sexism, Isamism, elitism - it's all there.
As Hillary is apologizing to black voters, Obama’s association with someone that preaches racial hatred has been getting a free ride. Perhaps the free ride is over.
This Pastor is a mentor, a guru (he seems to need a lot of those) to Obama. This man is a hater of everything we hold dear. Obama does not repudiate this man, does not repudiate Farrakhan.
If a presidential candidate was a member of the Westburo Baptist Church of Topeka Kansas (G@d Hates Fags) their words not mine, but claims he does not agree with everything that the "Reverend" Fred Phelps preaches, nor does he participate in protesting funerals, would we accept that and continue to support this candidate?
