Hooray for the UK government for bringing this absurdity to a quick end.
TEDDY bear row teacher Gillian Gibbons has been pardoned by the Sudanese Government and was released this morning.
She is now with British Embassy officials and will fly back to the UK today.
Foreign Secretary David Miliband said Gillian had shown "good British grit" and that she was in “remarkably good spirits” after speaking to her this afternoon.
Mr Miliband said: “She was a little overwhelmed by the amount of coverage she understood this case had received and proud of the way her family had stood up over the last week.”.
He described the securing of her release as a "team effort" and welcomed "the intervention of the president."
Gillian earlier released a statement saying she had been "well treated" during her incarceration.
The statement said: "I'm fine, I'm well, I'm very grateful to all the people working on my behalf. I know so many people out there have done so much.
"I know the Prime Minister has called my son, and I'm really grateful to everyone.
But there is no foreign embassy to talk on the behalf of Teddy...
THE cuddly bear that sparked the storm in Sudan was locked away in a Khartoum vault last night — facing a much longer sentence than Gillian.
Authorities anxious to draw a line under the controversy admitted the 2ft brown teddy named Mohammed would never see daylight again.
He is being held at the CID department of the Ministry of Interior in Khartoum. Pleas by The Sun to free Mohammed were refused yesterday. A source said: “It’s a life sentence for the bear. He’s in a police store and will never be handed back.
“The government wants this case file to stay firmly closed.”
I worry about how he might be treated.
However we may scoff at the overbearing brutality of Islam, their methods often pay dividends.
A BRITISH children’s author who named a mole Mohammed to promote multiculturalism has renamed it Morgan for fear of offending Muslims.
Kes Gray, a former advertising executive, first decided on his gesture of cross-cultural solidarity after meeting Muslims in Egypt.
The character, Mohammed the Mole, appeared in Who’s Poorly Too, an illustrated children’s book, which also included Dipak Dalmatian and Pedro Penguin, in an effort to be “inclusive”.
This weekend Gray said he had decided to postpone a reprint and rename the character Morgan the Mole even though there had been no complaints.
“I had no idea at all of the sensitivities of the name Mohammed until seeing this case in Sudan,” said Gray. “As soon as I saw the news I thought, oh gosh, I’ve got a mole called Mohammed this is not good.
“I feel incredibly sorry for that teacher,” added Gray. “Luckily for me, I’m in a position where I can avoid this.”
You see? There can be peace with the infidels, all they have to do is submit.

ebay removes Mohammed Bear auction.
It was supposed to end on December 6 but was abruptly canceled today because someone must've complained.
