Fortunately no one was hurt. Unfortunately, the conspiracy nuts on both sides are going to go wild over this one. The early evidence is clear that Eisenberg has mental problems, was drunk, and going through a divorce. He is also already claiming he was abused by a priest, and even called CNN to rant about the nation's mental health system. His wife claims Eisenberg had delusions of a microchip planted in his head. He has a criminal record. There are also reports he was a paranoid schizophrenic who wasn't taking his medication.
There's no word yet as to whether or not the bomb was real.
But some are saying none of it may not be real. This poll has 37% saying the whole thing is a "Wag the Dog", and that's at the Daily Kos. Huffpo readers are certain it's a Republican.
It's safe to say this one is real, folks. No shadow government, no wag the dog, just a mentally ill man lashing out at the place that would bring him the most attention.
A hostage situation at the Rochester headquarters of the Hillary Clinton campaign ended with a man's arrest Friday evening.
Leeland Eisenberg, of Somersworth, N.H., was immediately arrested after exiting the office and told to kneel and then lie on the ground before police placed handcuffs on him. Moments earlier, a young man believed to be the third and final hostage was released.Police said Eisenberg took hostages at the office on 28 North Main St. Friday afternoon.
Foster's Daily Democrat reported that Eisenberg is well known to police in Rochester. The hostage-taker was ordered to untie something from his chest and drop it on the ground as he was arrested. A police robot later moved into the area and detonated the device. There was no immediate word whether it was an explosive.
Eisenberg was scheduled to appear in Strafford County Superior Court at 1:30 p.m. Friday with his wife for a domestic violence hearing. He also spent time in prison in Massachusetts. He was released from MCI Concord on March 16, 2005.CNN later released a statement confirming that the man was Eisenberg and that he had been in contact with the network throughout the day. CNN immediately contacted law enforcement after the first call and then did not report the calls to avoid compromising the safety of the hostages.
So, will Hillary benefit from this politically? Probably. But with almost a year to go, it will hurt Obama ( at least in the short term ) more than the GOP. I expect a month or so of mental heath care news from the MSM.
