What we have is propaganda. The frontpage of the New York Times today has four stories above the fold: A panel on the overhaul of Iraqi police will report "Deep Failures" (lead story); A company is accused of getting contracts in Iraq through bribery; Sectarian strife in Iraq is bad. The American Cancer society -- a tax exempt organization -- is going to spend its entire $15 million advertising budget not on advising individuals how to reduce their risks associated with cancer but to promote socialized medicine. That's the news folks. The impressive successes of the surge in Iraq? Fuggedaboudit. The growing menace from Iran? Fuggedaboudit. The dicey political situation in Pakistan that could make it a nuclear Islamist power? Not important. What's important is running up the white flag in Iraq, and giving it to Iran to create a new caliphate and a massive terrorist base. Oh, yes, and electing the Democrats who will make all this possible.

Poverty Rate Plummets

Chalk one up for the free market economy!

Five years into a national economic recovery, the share of Americans living in poverty finally dropped.

The nation's poverty rate was 12.3 percent in 2006, down from 12.6 percent a year before, the Census Bureau reported Tuesday. Median household income increased slightly, to $48,200.

Not bad for a post 9/11 Nation that is still fighting two wars, recovering from Katrina and still taking in record numbers of immigrants. But good economic news is bad news for some.

"Too many Americans find themselves still stuck in the deep hole dug by economic policies favoring the wealthy," House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles B. Rangel, D-N.Y., said in a statement. "Income remains lower than it was six years ago, poverty is higher, and the number of Americans without health insurance continues to grow."

I suppose one person in poverty is too many, but that is hardly the point. Numbers that good in times like this are cause for celebration.The Dems know this so they shift to the tired socialized medicine routine.

Among the findings:

--Maryland led the country with a median household income of $65,144. It was followed by New Jersey, Connecticut, Hawaii and Massachusetts.

--Mississippi had the lowest median income, at $34,473. It was followed by West Virginia, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Alabama.

--Mississippi had the highest poverty rate, at 21.1 percent. It was followed by Louisiana, New Mexico, Arkansas and West Virginia.

--Maryland had the lowest poverty rate, at 7.8 percent. It was followed by New Hampshire, Connecticut, New Jersey and Hawaii.

CAIR: Media Cowers in Face of Islamist Threat

An Anti-CAIR Blogburst.

On August 24th, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), issued a “News Release” trumpeting the role CAIR played in getting the Christian TV program “Live Prayer with Bill Keller” off the air in Tampa, Florida.

While this is not a free speech issue, (TV stations are free to carry programs as they wish), it is troubling that a national broadcaster would terminate a program based on the demands of an Islamist hate group…especially an Islamic hate group that was not only founded by Islamic terrorists, but now stands as an unindicted co-conspirator in a major terrorism case.

In view of the fact that CAIR was founded by Islamist terrorists, is here to overthrow constitutional government, actively works to impose Sharia (Islamic law), and other odious aspects of CAIR’s perverted brand of “Islam”, and one can’t help but wonder, “What was CBS thinking?”  CBS is in the business to make money; the Bill Keller program paid for its air time; in normal times, this would be considered good business…except for the antics of the unindicted co-conspirator, CAIR.

But these are not normal times.

Islam have become the latest “victim” in the American public arena, thanks to groups like CAIR; groups that purport to support “equal rights”, but in reality demand “Special Rights”…for Muslims only.

Rights not available to non-Muslims.

That’s right.  If you are not a Muslim in America , you can be insulted; your faith (or lack of faith) can be made fun of, the way you dress, your voice, your choice of living arrangements…are all fair game.

The odious activities of CAIR have even influenced decisions regarding publication of cartoons…and we don’t mean the Danish Cartoons.  The popular “Opus” cartoon strip has been pulled from the August 26th and September 2nd editions of many North American newspapers.  Why?   Could it possibly be the subject matter?  Readers may view the August 26th strip and reach their own conclusion:

This is an alarming trend.  While there is no evidence that CAIR had anything to do with the Opus cartoon strip being pulled, it would seem to fit well with CAIR’s agenda to define Islam in America …to define what can be said…or not said.

Censorship.

By a group that tarnishes the meaning of the words “Islamic civil rights group”.

It should be noted that when Anti-CAIR attorney Reed Rubinstein asked a reporter from a renowned Washington DC newspaper why they won't report on the obvious connections CAIR has to terrorism, he was told that the newspaper would never print or follow up on information uncovered in the CAIR v Anti-CAIR Lawsuit "because Muslims are an oppressed minority in this country."

This is extremely dangerous, especially since America has a long tradition of inquiry; no subject has been taboo, no course of inquiry subject to censorship in search of the truth on important matters of public interest. This is as it should be.   

Until now. 

Whenever there is an article that questions Islam, a commentary that correctly points out problems with Islam in North America, or even dares to raise the issue of Islamic terrorism, CAIR is in the forefront demanding that Islam be described in only the most innocent of terms. 

CAIR, once again, is clearly demonstrating what is in store for North America should CAIR’s perverted brand of Islam become dominant.

CAIR has, since its founding, told us exactly what is in store for us should its dream of imposing Wahabbi Islam on North America come to fruition.  Our “mainstream press” has refused to even make inquiry into any aspect of CAIR’s activities on behalf of radical Islam; is it any wonder that most North Americans are woefully ignorant of the threat?

The mainstream press has abdicated its role in society.  Is it any wonder that many people now turn to alternative sources for their news?

Come what may, North Americans will never be able to claim we weren’t warned.

...and all too many of them can never claim they pushed back.

Papers Drop Opus Cartoon over Islam

The cowering dhimmis in the media have done it again.

At least 25 of the 200 or so "Opus" client newspapers might not run the Sunday-only comic's next two episodes, which feature Islamic references and a sex joke.

So of course, you're going to see it here...(click on image to see it all)

...and add it to the List of Things That Offend Muslims.

I can’t believe the almost genteel “gettin’ some” gag in the last panel might be the oh-so-risque sex joke they’re talking about here, but we’ll have to wait until next week’s strip to find out, I guess. Exit question: Who wants to bet that “Fatima Struggle” and “God willing” were originally “Fatima Jihad” and “Insh’allah” before someone in his syndicate pulled Berke Breathed aside and had a word with him?

Shearer told E&P that WPWG checked with a couple of Islamic experts to see if the “Opus” strips might be offensive, and they said the comics were OK. But he understands why some papers might still be wary.

The WPWG checked with “Islamic experts.” Do they do the same when a comic strip might offend, say, someone who’s not a Muslim? No, at least not to my knowledge. It’s not hard to make the connection here: The Danish cartoonists are still living in hiding. The publishers of Opus don’t want to do that. So they trot down to the “Islamic expert” to get his it stamped halal.

In a nutshell (nuthouse?), terrorism pays.

Belgian Muslims Want a Ban on Easter eggs

Yes, Easter eggs. Add this to pork, hot cross buns, alcohol, Jewish cookies, Coca Cola and all the other food related grievences, and the menu for dhimmis is getting mighty slim.

JW: "If headscarves are banned for employees who work at the desk at city services in order to guarantee neutrality of services, then we demand that no Christmas trees be set up in city buildings and that no Easter eggs be given out." Antwerp trade union representative Badia Miri said this on Wednesday in the Gazet van Antwerpen.

Miri is one of the seven Muslim women who were forced to remove their headscarves if they wanted to continue working at the desk. Three of the seven staff members of the city of Antwerp who wore headscarves agreed to stop wearing one. Different positions - not involving contact with the public - were found for the others. No one was dismissed. There is still opposition to the dress code however, which came into effect in March. The seven Muslim women are now urging that "neutrality of service provision be actually enforced."

"The Antwerp city government says that neutrality is endangered if staff wear a cross or headscarf," says Miri. "But in our experience action has only been taken against the Muslim women. If the city government is really concerned about neutrality, then Christmas trees and Easter eggs should no longer be allowed at work. We are asking that a contact point be set up to report all violations of the dress code."

China v The Taliban

China has close ties to Iran and North Korea, but it looks like they may be an ally against the Taliban.

China and Pakistan has signed a formal agreement covering security arrangements for the 4,000 Chinese citizens working in Pakistan. What this has done is make China a major player in the war against al Qaeda inside Pakistan.

 

China is a major supplier of military technology to Pakistan, but most of the Chinese in Pakistan are working on major industrial and infrastructure projects. Currently, 7,000 Pakistani military and police personnel protect Chinese working inside Pakistan. In addition, there are a small, but growing, number of Chinese security personnel. The Chinese security detachment works with the Chinese community in Pakistan, to make sure there are no misunderstandings about the need for tight security. The Chinese security personnel also advise the Pakistanis on Chinese security needs, and help get needed technical equipment brought in from China. The major danger to Chinese in Pakistan is Islamic terrorists. Most of these are al Qaeda, and local Islamic radicals (mostly Taliban) who want Pakistan run by a religious dictatorship. Since China has come down hard on real, or perceived, Islamic radicalism at home, China is seen by Pakistani Islamic radicals as "foreign devils" and "enemies of Islam." The Islamic radicals recognize that China is crucial to maintaining Pakistani military and police power, and keeping the current government in power.  So there are more attacks on Chinese by Pakistani Islamic radicals.

All this Chinese counter-terror work is done very quietly, and covertly. That may keep it out of the Western press, but the Chinese are increasingly tagged as major bad guys by the Islamic media, especially the outlets that are pro-radical.

Also, today is Hawaii's birthday. Signed into executive order by Dwight D Eisenhower on this day, 1959.

Footbaths and Double Standards

A Stop the ACLU Blogburst.

The latest battle of religion in the public square is unfolding in Dearborn, Michigan, a city with one of the highest Muslim populations in the country. At the University of Michigan’s local campus, administrators have recently refitted several school bathrooms to include small footbaths in the corner–an accommodation for Muslim students who must perform ritual washing as part of their daily observance. The issue has more than a few of the usual suspects trying to explain their way out of their usual positions on the separation of church and state.

The Detroit chapter of the ACLU has scrambled to find a way to recuse itself from the matter, claiming that the footbaths qualify as secular since they could be used by non-Muslims, and therefore don’t cross the group’s usual bright church-state line. Further, the ACLU explains, the university’s decision to take on the $25,000 expense was motivated primarily “by health and safety” because some students didn’t like washing their hands in the sinks after others students had washed their feet. If that hadn’t been the case, the group says this religious accommodation would surely have merited greater investigation and criticism.

Uh-huh. This is the same ACLU chapter that in 2005 objected to a high-school wrestling coach saying a prayer with his team before meets, calling the action “inherently coercive.” And the ACLU of Michigan is already on the defensive for its non-action this time. In a letter explaining its silence regarding university footbaths, the ACLU notes that it “has often come to the defense of other religions when the state has attempted to interfere with their religious expression.” The letter even includes a list of cases in which the group has defended Christian clients. Too bad none of the examples prove much of a parallel to the current recusal over state recognition of a religious practice.

Of course the ACLU has “explained away” its double standard in how it scrutinizes government speech or action that involves religion. If a state agency today would have allocated $25,000 of taxpayer money to an explicitly Christian activity, particularly a permanent fixure requiring perpetual maintenance that serves no function to anyone aside from adherents of one faith, you KNOW the ACLU and Americans United would have already filed suit.

I have little issue with the act itself — the university installing these footbaths.  As the editorial goes on to point out:

Freedom of religion has never meant freedom from religion, and making it easier for people of different backgrounds to practice their faiths is a perfectly American thing to do. Many schools have chapels on campus, a fact that bothers very few. And few places object to kosher offerings in school cafeterias–an accommodation for Jewish students causing no inconvenience to others.

I do have a problem with the ACLU’s hypocrisy and their long, slimy tongue-kissing of an enemy to America, CAIR (Collecting Alms for Islamic Radicalism).

Abu Izzadeen met Omar Bakri Muhammed and Abu Hamza al-Masri at Finsbury Park Mosque in the 1990s; this is when he is thought to have been radicalized.

He visited Pakistan in 2001, before the September 11 attacks, as part of Al-Muhajiroun; he claims he went there to give a series of lectures. He also claimed to have attended terror training camps in Afghanistan.

He described the 7/7 suicide bombers in London as "completely praiseworthy". On the eve of the anniversary of the 7/7 attacks in London, he was filmed preaching to a group of Muslims in Birmingham (UK) mocking and laughing at the victims of 9/11 and threatening further terror attacks in the UK.

He has openly stated that he wishes to die as a suicide bomber.

On 20 September 2006, Abu Izadeen and Anjem Choudary disrupted Home Secretary John Reid's first public meeting with Muslims since his appointment. He called Reid an "enemy" of Islam. John Humphrys interviewed Izzadeen on the 22 September 2006 edition of BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

In a heated discussion Abu Izadeen stated that his aim was to have the UK become an Islamic state and that this should be achieved without following the democratic process.

In early February 2007, ITV broadcast a video made in the summer of 2004 that was recently discovered on a password-protected website.

In the video Abu Izadeen told his audience in Regents Park Mosque, London, to murder British and American Muslim soldiers:     "Whoever allies himself with the Kaffirs against the believers - he is one of them. So those so-called enemies to Allah who join the British Government - 'cos remember the British Government, my dear Muslim brothers, are crusaders... crusaders come to kill and rape Muslims. Whoever joins them - he who joins the British Army, the American Army, he is a mortal kaffir and his only hukum (punishment) is for his head to be removed. Indeed, whoever changes his deen (religious way of life); kill him."

This is what we're up against.

Western 'Beasts' Use Colored Underwear to Conceal Their Filth

Here's the latest addition to the List of Things That Offend Muslims. As usual, the complaint is very damning over a trivial issue.

JW: There are rules of shari'a in everything. We have counted almost 70 rules about how to urinate and defecate. In contrast, how do those beasts in the West answer the call of nature? They stand in front of other people, in toilets at airports and other public places. They do not care about covering their private parts. Even their underwear is colored and not white, so it can conceal all that filth. We are a nation that has long known the meaning of cleanliness, what to do when nature calls, and what the rules of hygiene are. The others, to this day, live like beasts. To this day, many of them are not circumcised, even though the World Health Organization has advised to circumcise people as a treatment for AIDS, because it has been scientifically proven that circumcised people are less susceptible to AIDS, and are less likely to spread it than uncircumcised people.

Of course, Western Beasts and their underwear have been an issue before.
