I got a letter from John Mc Cain today. My first thought was he wanted money for '08, but boy was i wrong. I nearly tossed it , after all, I won't be voting for Mc Cain in the primary, but curiosity got the best of me.
It was nothing so selfish. In fact, Mc Cain's mailer was on behalf of the Enviromental Defense Fund.
Dear Fellow Citizen, That's me.
I'll give it to you straight: Uh oh...
We have a growing crisis on our hands...one that seldom gets the attention it deserves.
I'm speaking about global warming.
What!? Seldom get's attention? Nary a day goes by that I don't hear about global warming. The penguins, the polar bears, doom...doom...doom... believe what you will, but give me a break!
So I ask that you join me, Enviromental Defense president Fred Krupp and hundreds of thousands of citizens, by taking these simple action steps today:
First ask your Senators to support the Climate Stewardship and Innovatiion Act by signing both of the enclosed petitions.
Second sign up to be part of the Global Warming Action Network so you can stay abreast of the latest developments as they unfold and take action when needed.
Natural climate change is nothing new, the Little Ice Age started in the 13th century and lasted about 400 years and is thought to have been triggered by decreased solar activity and increased volcanic activity.
The opposite may be happening now, as there is already evidence of increased solar activity resulting in the warming of Mars.
As evidence accumulates of significant, ongoing climate change on Earth, severe fluctuations in the martian climate strike closer to home. “There is quite a bit of evidence that suggests that severe episodic or catastrophic phenomena are much more common in nature than we have thought,” Malin says. “Certainly my research both on Earth and Mars strongly points to such processes as being most crucial in shaping the landscape.”
There's also the fact that a large volcano blast can contain more greenhouse gases than humanity can produce in our lifetime. But to be fair the Enviromental Defense Fund has done a lot of good, like ridding us of DDT and lead gasoline, I just don't subscribe to the global warming doomsday scenario. It seems to me Mc Cain is more concerned with preserving the RINO.
