Al Qaeda has "issued" a new "how to" manual for
members, and wannabes. It's English title is "Myth of Delusion," and it
was written, it is believed, by an Egyptian terrorist; Mohammed
al-Hakaymah...
NY Sun on al-Hakaymah...a member of a violent group
that recently splintered off from an Egyptian Islamist organization,
Gama'a al-Islamiyya, when it signed a cease-fire agreement with Cairo.
Mr. Hakaymah gained some notoriety on August 5, when Osama bin Laden's
Egyptian-born deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, mentioned his name in an
announcement that Al Qaeda was merging with the splinter group.
..."Myth of Delusion" is so named because the document
also tries to convince prospective, and existing, terrorists, that
Western, especially American, intelligence organizations are not as
effective as many Moslems believe they are. This notion of "CIA
invincibility" in the Moslem world has been around for a long time, and
it's difficult to overcome decades of delusions, when trying to gain
new recruits. That's why the September 11, 2001 attacks were so
important to Islamic terrorists everywhere. These attacks showed that
the CIA/FBI/ and so on, was not invincible.
The 152 page online document (Click here for the pdf) goes into great detail advising the muhajideen on cell phone use and CIA recruitment techniques, while promoting propoganda. It's important for budding terrorists to believe they can win if they want to gain funding and recruitment, and that my friends is why the current Democratic strategy of painting Bush and our military as a failure is so destructive to the security of this Nation.
A previous al-Qaeda handbook gave advice on how to manipulate the western media and legal system, from My Pet Jawa ;
"" A directive lists one mission as "spreading rumors and writing statements that instigate people against the enemy."
If captured, the manual states, "At the beginning of the trial ... the brothers must insist on proving that torture was inflicted on them by state security before the judge. Complain of mistreatment while in prison.""
...And who is all too happy to fall for that line?
Thanks to In the Bullpen for the pdf link.

Right Truth ""The serious question is where to these jihadis get their information, at least the parts that are accurate in this on-line manual? We have such an open society, individuals in government that leak like crazy when it suits their political purpose, and media that are all too happy to print those leaks. It's no wonder that secrets could land in the lap of terrorists.""
The C-Square ""Mohammed al Hakaymah, unlike Najd Al Rawik, the oblivious author of "The Global Media: A Work Paper for Invading the US Media," (Rawik doesn't know enough American culture to realize US media is already supine) al-Hakaymah" just reads the members of the mainstream media for the tasty bits of intell that turn into much needed field tactical adjustments.""
Smooth Stone ""See, while Hakaymah makes no mention of the December 2005 New YorkTimes
article that first disclosed that the National Security Agency was
tapping phone numbers found in cell phones captured from suspected Al
Qaeda operatives in Afghanistan, Hakaymah does devote a chapter to
electronic surveillance. Coincidence? I don't think so, and neither do
intelligence officials.""
