Michelle Obama's Gaffe

Hat tip MM. Guess who's not ready for prime time?

“For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country,” she told a Milwaukee crowd today, “and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.”

Nothing in America's past to be proud of? One has to wonder what country she deems pride-worthy. Now suddenly she feels a sense of national pride while her husband is on the brink of winning the Democratic nomination. I question the timing, and her patriotism.

Updates;

Perhaps she can be proud of this.

Let's compare and contrast: Cindy McCain: "I'm proud of my country"

In an effort to help Michelle Obama, here's a short list of things to be proud of if you're an American.

The Declaration of Independence

George Washington's victory in the Revolutionary War

Abe Lincoln

The Emancipation Proclamation

Teddy Roosevelt

The National Park System

Leading the Allies in a victory over fascism during WW II

Stopping the spread communism

The National Anthem

MLK's "I have a dream" speech

JFK's "Ich bin ein Berliner"

Reagan's "tear down this wall"

The Space Program

Leading the world in economy, freedom and  diplomacy.

Think about it, Ms Obama.

She's a socialist twit.

Pretty short list. Didn't the Russians lead the allies to victory or is this the "American" version of history? Don't forget.......

Slavery
Vietnam
Hiroshima & Nagasaki
Napalm
Watergate
Nicaragua
Ronald "I don't remember" Reagan

Leading the world in diplomacy! HAHAHAHAHAHAH

America is the most despised country on the planet. Maybe you're reading the wrong propaganda.

Frank,
I haven't forgotten the things you listed, they're just off topic. I didn't say America was perfect, my complaint is Ms Obama couldn't think of ONE thing that made her proud of her country. America does lead the world in diplomacy, where do you think the UN is located?

So if the UN was located in Albania then Albania would be the world leaders in diplomacy? Somehow I don't think so.
The only reason the UN is located in America is because America has the economic clout to have it there.
Diplomacy has nothing to do with where the UN is. It is about how well you get on with other countries. By any measure it is obvious that America isn't getting on very well with just about any other country these days. You can thank "Dubya" for that.

""By any measure it is obvious that America isn't getting on very well with just about any other country these days.""

So the US doesn't have any allies at all? Not the UK, Canada, Poland? Now you're just being absurd.

mistakes have certainly been made in our brief history as a nation, but they are eclipsed by our sacrifices for world peace as well as our steadfast commitment to humanitarian causes. focusing on the negatives in the face of such overwhemling good is most certainly a sign of a very sick personality, and such cynical views should be dismissed as readily as one would step on an unwanted cockroach.

Dan, you might be interested to know that our friend Frank is from the Netherlands. Perhaps the reason he is angry is that we chased the Nazis out of his country.

i cried for 2 days after mrs obama's statement. i was invited here from London 35 years ago to work as an RN nurse, i made a decision to stay here. I am now disabled, but volunteer time and talent to help those in need. My husband and I spent all of our life savings to feed and help others over the years. We are now in need ourselves. It was worthwhile coming here, THIS IS A GREAT COUNTRY. I STILL CRY FROM TIME TO TIME. I QUESS I WAS REALLY HURT. i DONT VOTE, BUT IF I DID I WOULD NOT VOTE FOR HER HUSBAND.
I WAS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT HIM FOR THE START, BUT I GUESS I AM NOW MORE CONCEWRNED ABOUT THEM.
MISS MILLIE
