Iran's 19 Nukes

It's no surprise that Iran would continue with it's nuclear program, but the Western world and especially Israel should pay attention to Iran's choice of 19 nuclear plants as a hint of things to come.

Iran said yesterday it rejected any preconditions for talks with the US and a member of parliament was quoted as saying Tehran planned 19 nuclear power plants. Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki made clear Iran's position on talks three days after US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Washington was open to better ties and talks with Iran if it suspended sensitive nuclear work.

"We do not accept any preconditions for talks," he said.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had earlier rejected conditions for talks.

Mottaki's remarks came as Kazem Jalali, a spokesman for parliament's national security and foreign policy committee, gave details of a planned international tender for 19 atomic plants a week after Russia said it had begun fuel deliveries to the Islamic state's first such facility.

Jalali said each power plant would have a capacity of 1,000 megawatts of electricity, the Iran News daily reported yesterday.

Meanwhile, the committee's head Alaeddin Boroujerdi said Iran's first home-built nuclear power plant is scheduled to come online in around nine years.

The number 19 is considered to be important to many in the Islamic faith. You may remember that there were 19 hijackers on 9/11. Referred to as the "Magnificent 19" by Islamists shortly after.

To further my point, WikiIslam tells us that "Some Muslims believe that the Quranic verse Qur'an 74:30 is the proof that the occurrence of observed "19" related facts in Islam is a confirmation of the truth of Islam"

"Over it is nineteen"

Let's put that in context.

74:26 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire!
74:27 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is?
74:28 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!-
74:29 Darkening and changing the colour of man!
74:30 Over it are Nineteen.
74:31 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts  is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind.

WikiIslam also gives examples of anti-Islamic phases adding up to 19.

"Islam is not from God":

IANVAdd: 209 = 19 x 11

That looks a lot like '01/9/11.

Of course, the occurrence of the number 19 is only 1 out of 19, not exactly long odds. But to Ahmadinejad and his ilk,  it represents the 19 "angels" in Hell, and he intends to bring that hell to the non-believers here on earth.
