Go to Bat for Breast Cancer

It wasn't just the color of the bats used on Mother's Day a year ago that caught Terrmel Sledge's eye, but the purpose behind them.

Pinkbats This is why when the Padres left fielder was asked if he wanted to swing a pink bat on Mother's Day this season, he jumped at the chance to promote breast cancer awareness.

"Anything we can do here to help branch out and show that we are aware of this is ... it's important," Sledge said. "If we can inspire people in their situation, then it's good to be a part of that."

Sledge is one of four Padres who will lend their support to breast cancer awareness on Sunday, when San Diego plays host to the Cardinals at PETCO Park.
