Go to Bat for Breast Cancer
This is why when the Padres left fielder was asked if he wanted to
swing a pink bat on Mother's Day this season, he jumped at the chance
to promote breast cancer awareness.
"Anything we can do here to help branch out and show that we are aware of this is ... it's important," Sledge said. "If we can inspire people in their situation, then it's good to be a part of that."
Sledge is one of four Padres who will lend their support to breast cancer awareness on Sunday, when San Diego plays host to the Cardinals at PETCO Park.
