Leftist Terrorism

The nexus of the far left and Islamofascist interests has been noted many times, but the MSM has largely ignored or downplayed  terrorism in general. There are advantages to ignoring small-time terrorists, one of the primary goals of many of these groups is to gain attention to their cause, and overplaying the effect of terror could encourage other fringe groups to follow suit.

But a media blackout of many of these terroroist acts, and more impotantly, their goals, suggests that major news outlets can't be trusted for this kind of information. Many on the left are more concerned with anti-Communists than with the actual threat of Communism. This has been the modus operandi of the left since the Mc Carthy era, and this same mentality has transferred to radical Islam.

The left seems to say, "sure,  we're against terrorism and sharia law, but we're more concerned with Republicans".

Strategypage: While most of the terrorism committed these days is carried out by Islamic radicals, they have found allies in existing radical leftist groups.

For example, in  Okinawa, a group calling itself the "Revolutionary Army" set off three pipe bombs in the last week. The same group claimed responsibility for similar attacks in 2002. Leftist radicals have been around for over a century. The most successful were the anarchists, a 19th century movement that killed several heads of state, and hundreds of other officials, before being wiped out by the more bloody minded communists before World War II.

The communists were radical leftists, until they established the Soviet Union in 1923. After that, communism was noted chiefly for its highly effective police state methods, and support of terrorism by other groups. The Soviet Union was a major supplier of training, weapons and money to leftist terrorists. With the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, that support went away, but the leftist, and even Islamic, groups the Soviets had supported, did not. While there are few Soviet trained terrorists out there any more, there are still plenty of radical groups.

The Japanese ones support a number of causes, from the establishment of communist dictatorships, to the destruction of the United States, protectionism (no "economic globalism"), the status quo in general and  and so on. The groups operating in Okinawa want U.S. troops out of Japan. The United States is a convenient enemy for leftists, many of whom oppose free markets, democracy (and a lot more besides) and anything that will get a mention in the mass media.

Have you heard about Maverick News Media? Pamela Geller (aka Atlas Shrugs) invited me to join, and I jumped at the chance to be a part of this challenge to the msm.

The msm are absorbed with stories such as that of Anna Nicole Smith and barely reporting the stories which will matter in the long run.

I've nearly given up on TV news altogether because of all the celeb nonsense. Most of the good stuff on tv ends up on youtube anyway.

I agree, Kevin. If I wanted "news" on ANS, I'd turn on the E! channel.

The MSM should stick to "just the facts, ma'am."

The MSM is obviously reporting this stuff. The problem comes when they dont give ALL THE FACTS and convieniently leave out some of the most pertinant. Face it there is a rise in the number of muslim on non-muslim attacks whether part of a movement of individual terrorist attacks or not.

But a media blackout of many of these terroroist acts, and more impotantly, their goals, suggests that major news outlets can't be trusted for this kind of information. ...Exactly Kevin!

WMD, I'm not sure I agree the MSM is reporting these stories. Ask anyone if theyve heard of the 3 Christian girls who were beheaded on their way to school (in Indonesia), then ask them what they think of Brittney's hair. In essence that's what I'm really talking about, the MSM lacks the integrity to report the stories. The aforementioned beheadings may've been in the papers, but it's buried in page A-17 with the JC Penny ads. Yet, ANS is inescapable.

However, I do agree with you that jihad is on the rise, that's the reason I started this blog. You make a good point that when these attacks are reported, words like terrorist, jihad, and even Muslim are carefully edited out. We won't stem the tide of jihad until the American press, and yes, the left get on board. Until then we're fighting with our hands tied.
